JOJO EYEWEAR GETS LONG ISLANDERS LOOKING, FEELING BETTER IN 2013

JOJO EYEWEAR GETS LONG ISLANDERS LOOKING, FEELING BETTER IN 2013

Local Eye Care Professionals/Entrepreneurs Launch “Designer Looks for Less” Themed Web Destination

Plainview, NY (January 22, 2013) JoJo Eyewear co-founder Jodie Feist likes to think that her love/hate relationship with glasses started in 5th grade when she was told she needed them full time “at 11 years old, this was a death sentence” she recalled “Glasses were ugly, and in them, in my mind, so was I” By the time she was 13, all she wanted was contact lenses, which became her birthday gift that year. “I was happy for a while, until I started to develop eye infections, from over-wearing my lenses” she said. “I went to college for two years acquiring a liberal arts degree. Not knowing what to do with this, I came home and got a job in an eyeglass store so I could get free contact lenses”. The first thing her new boss did was make her wear glasses. But what happened next was remarkable. People were coming in saying “I’d like to try on what she is wearing.”

“I started to feel pretty in my glasses” Jodie said “I decided I loved glasses and wanted other people to have the same experience, and to feel attractive in their glasses. I went back to school to learn the art of optics and precision lens grinding and become an optician. I knew I could combine fashion with optics, and change the way people see and feel”.

Jodie began working at Plainview Opticians 1998 and became the owner/operator in 2005 with one employee and one doctor besides herself. The business has grown each year, prompting her to move locations in 2010 and to upgrade everything in the new shop including equipment and product. Additionally, while other businesses are downsizing, they also added to their staff last year which now boasts 4 employees and two doctors. They built their name primarily as a high end boutique but have added insurances over the last 2 years, helping them to continue upward momentum with sales eclipsing half a million dollars in 2011 alone.

Flash forward to 2012, and Jodie, alongside her business partner (who also goes by the name of Jo) has created the go-to online source for fun and fashionable frames that won’t cost you an arm or a leg (or an eye!); one that offers Long islanders and the world the look and feel of designer glasses without breaking the bank, glasses that are created with care and attention to quality and detail by two local female Long Island entrepreneurs who are not only business minded, but are actually licensed practicing Optical professionals working every day in the field, as well. The future business partners Jo and Jo had met at an industry event several years back, and after talking for a short time, realized they had a lot in common: they worked out at the same gym, they both owned seven pairs of eyeglasses and two pairs of sunglasses and, most importantly, they shared a goal for fitting people with fashionable, comfortable, quality eyewear they feel good in! That goal is now a reality, with the unveiling of JoJoEyeWear.com!

Unlike typical eyewear websites run by average “Joe’s” it’s owned and operated by these two Long Island born Jo’s who have been licensed and in the eyewear business for over 15 years! Jo and Jo (who are also both licensed opticians) manage all aspects of the ordering process themselves…no outsourcing, no factory labor. You’ll have peace of mind knowing your order is in the capable hands of experts. Although an online destination, you can also visit their showroom, located at 436 Woodbury Road in Plainview, NY and see for yourself!
