*****DEVOTED FAN TO BRING BACK HISTORIC 2001 DISCO TO THE COMMUNITY *****
December, 2017 (BROOKLYN, NY) — Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams will join with hundreds of fans and local residents as they put on their white three piece suits and polyester shirts and return to Brooklyn to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Saturday Night Fever. The movie, which was shot in Brooklyn, is one of the most iconic films of all time. The famed 2001 Odyssey Disco in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, will be re-opened for one night only as The Trammps (”Disco Inferno”) The Village People, and Carol Douglas perform once again at the club that has been closed for years now. The dance floor on which John Travolta demonstrated his disco skills, will be lit up once again. Many regulars and staff will return to the club for the celebration. The movie’s lead actress, Karen Lynn Gorney, who played Stephanie, (Travolta’s girlfriend), will be joined by fellow cast members. The red carpet club will open at 5:00PM on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 802 64th Street, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Saturday Night Fever opened nationwide on December 13, 1977.
A devoted fan and businessman, who has seen the movie over 30 times, rented the disco and hired the bands so Brooklyn-ites and fans could put their disco shoes on again. Gianluca Mech is opening the club free of charge for all those attending in the Bay Ridge neighborhood and elsewhere in Brooklyn. He is working with Chezzam Events to put the famed disco floor with ball back up and the club will be returned to its heyday, when young men and women disco-ed the night away. The original club DJ’s, Monti Rock and Ralphie Dee, will be spinning again. Pizza from Lenny’s, made famous in the film, will be served free all night long.
